Today, I would like to share with you my personal 7 tips for new yoga teachers. One year ago, I had never thought that being a yoga teacher is one of the most fulfilling jobs in the world. I’m so grateful for this life changing time and best training I could have ask for in Bali last year. Teaching yoga back home in Germany now has been a true transformation and there’s so much more to com.
As a yoga teacher you’re helping people to feel better and making a positive change in the world. And you will feel better too as long as you keep a healthy balance. Whatever you do, do it with your whole heart. Do it with your whole soul. Do it with meaning. Do it with intention. Do it with grace. Do it with love. 🖤
Here are my 7 tips for new yoga teachers:
You will never know everything, and that’s ok
You will never be everybody’s yoga teacher
Just be yourself and and true to yourself. Your students coming because of you.
Teach from your own experience
Don’t try to teach something you’ve never experienced by yourself.
Simplicity and repetition are good things
Keep it simple and try to do some asanas again and again and again. I know it’s interesting to figure out new things, but at the end you must feel comfortable teaching it, only then your students will benefit from it.
Practise, practise, practise and all is coming…
First of all, don’t forget your own practice. It can be challenging sometimes, but try to find your way by yourself on your mat at least once a day. And of course practice, practice, practice teaching. Even when it’s your mother or dog.
Be fully present
Always stay in the moment when you’re teaching a class. Your students will feel your intention, your vision and your emotions.
